Believe it or not, until a few days ago I had never seen a Halloween movie! I watch a lot of films, and love modern horror, but I’m ashamed to say that there are a lot of classic movies I’m yet to catch up on.
As I was keen to watch this latest offering in the franchise, I tried to correct things a little by catching up on the original Halloween movie. To say I was disappointed though was a bit of an understatement. While I’m sure at the time it was intense and groundbreaking, watching it for the first time in 2018 just didn’t do it for me. I didn’t not enjoy it, I was just expecting more.
Based on all of this, I’m probably not that qualified to give this 2018 movie a fair review inline with the rest of the franchise. All I will say is that I had an absolute blast watching this, and got everything that I wanted from the original, but didn’t get. Aside from a stupid twist, I thought this was great fun and loved how it felt so much like the 70s original.
