A fracking site nearby to a private school nestled deep in the countryside causes a sinkhole to suddenly appear. From which, a bunch of subterranean creatures emerge and begin munching on the teachers and pupils. It’s then up to a group of them to band together and do whatever it takes in order to save the school.
Slaughterhouse Rulez boasts an impressive cast, including Michael Sheen, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. Pegg and Frost are even credited as executive producers, so you’d be forgiven for expecting something along the lines of the brilliant three flavours Cornetto trilogy. Unfortunately this doesn’t come anywhere close to being as good as those movies, and I cannot believe those 3 in particular had anything to do with this one. The characters are mostly lazily written stereotypes and the whole thing just isn’t funny. The creatures themselves have good potential, but due to some pretty poor editing they don’t even come across as scary. Such a disappointment.
“Once he has discovered something, he wants to be off onto the next thing, rather than spending time and elaborating”
My primary school teacher had me pretty well sussed from a young age when writing this in one of my school reports, but with CineChat I’m determined to change all of that. Even though my movie and TV watchlist continues to grow almost as quickly as my available spare time shrinks, I’m going to ensure I spend time elaborating on each one I do manage to tick off the list!
